About Us
We are a literary newspaper commited to improving Pittsburgh's cultural side. DonӴ view us as just another brick in the intrusive wall of mainstream media noise that has enveloped our major market cities. Our main function is to encourage expression. Expression can take many forms: opinion, art, literature, and protest֠just to mention a few. Most expression remains undiscovered since mainstream media only showcases what is profitable. We strive to show both sides of the coin, regardless of whose pocket it lands in.
Our methods reflect our interest in creativity and expression. Rather than have our opinions turn to vinegar and remain locked away from the eyes of our readers, we are actively pursuing minds to ferment with our expression. Thus you will see us everywhere: campuses, universities, and anywhere else a mind can be shown how to work independently. Our representatives can be found among the masses every other Monday distributing the culmination of Pittsburghӳ creative collective.
We assume our methods will be imitated. We assume our methods will incite resistance. We are aware that any time a system changes, the infrastructure of that system attempts to defy the modification, until a sense of balance is achieved.
Our city is quite familiar with this type of interaction. The steel backbone of Pittsburgh has been ripped out, forcing the city to bend under its own fiscal weight. New technology has been fitted as a buttress to correct the imbalance, but this does little if the hands of local politics are already writing their names in the hardening cement, causing instability.
In conclusion, we all have opinions; unfortunately they become jaded when viewed underneath the fluorescent light of corporate America. So our advice is this: Think for yourself. Because anytime you let another think for you, it probably comes with a price tag.
